Services will be at 2p.m. Sunday in the First Baptist Church. Masonic graveside services and burial will be in Crane Garden of Memories under direction of Larry Sheppard Funeral Home.
Mr. Hogan had been living in Crane since 1935. He was born Jan. 30, 1897 in Nacogdoches County. He was married to Jewell Pearl Tyra on Feb. 12, 1921 in Eliaceville. He owned Crane Motor Co. and was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the American Legion, a Schreiner and had been a pioneer automobile dealer since 1933.
He drilled the first well in Crane County in 1927.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Tom Hogan Jr. and Ted W. Hogan, both of Crane and Eugen J. Hogan of Midland; five sisters, Mrs. Inis Porter of Gregory, Mrs. Frauline Rosenverger and Mrs. Genevea Pulsiper, both of Nacogdoches, Mrs. Margaret Beard of Carghage and Beth Hogan of Rusk; two brothers, Fred Hogan of Rusk and Robert Hogan of Clarksville; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Jewell Pearl Tyra married Thomas Cecil Hogan on 12 February 1921 at the parsonage of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Eliasville, Texas. The two met while he was working in the oil field near Graham, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Hogan moved to Crane, Texas in 1935 and lived there except for 18 months when they were in business in Rankin. They were members of the First Baptist Church.
Mr. Hogan was an employee of Gulf Oil Corporation for several years, but quit to devote all his time to his business, Crane Motor Company. His two older sons, Tom and Ted were associates in the motor company.
