George Kelly Brant

Cumberland, MD - George Kelly Brant, 88, of Cumberland, MD, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2012, at the Golden Living Community. Born April 22, 1924, Cumberland, MD, Mr. Brant was the son of the late Kelly LeRoy Brant and Anna Belle (Miller) Brant.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 59 years: Virginia Grace (Wilson) Brant, October 19, 2005; two sisters: Marianna Neff and Doris Jean Nee; a brother: James H. Brant, Sr.; and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
A United States Army Veteran of World War II, George retired from Rusco Home Improvements. He was a member of the Saint Luke's Lutheran Church, the United Commercial Travelers, and the Fort Cumberland Post #13 American Legion. George is survived by his son: Jeffrey T. Brant and wife, Cheryl, Cumberland, MD; and his daughters: Linda Lanson and husband, William, Brookville, MD; Anne Brant Stack and husband, Stewart, Catonsville, MD; and Lisa B. Poland and husband, Jeffrey, LaVale, MD. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Nicholas Lanson and wife, Lucinda, Frederick, MD; Benjamin Lanson, Silver Spring, MD; Daniel Stack and wife, Elise, Baltimore, MD; Andrew Stack, Baltimore, MD; Matthew Poland, Durham, NC; Jenna Poland, Laurel, MD; and Adam Brant, Cumberland, MD; his great granddaughter: Amelia Stack, Baltimore, MD; his half-sister: Alice Hershiser, Cumberland, MD; his sisters-in-law: Evelyn Couter, LaVale, MD; Dorthalee Wilson, Greencastle, PA; and Betty Brant, Cumberland, MD; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Monday, December 17, 2012, from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, December 17, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor David Wright officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will be held at the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery at Rocky Gap. The family requests that memorials be made in Mr. Brant's name to Saint Luke's Lutheran Church, 1601 Frederick Street, Cumberland, MD 21502. The family would like to express their heart-felt appreciation to the staff at the Golden Living Community for the loving care given to George during his time there.
