Sara Katherine Dewees Gray, 92, of Arlington, Texas, passed away Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, in Arlington. She was born Nov. 14, 1916, in Floresville to Charles T. and Corabel Webster Dewees.
Sara was raised on the historic Dewees Ranch in Karnes and Wilson counties. She was a Pi Beta Phi at Southern Methodist University, and later earned advanced degrees in psychology. In 1939, Sara married Col. Howard W. Gray, U.S. Air Force, and later she married Cmdr. George Perrin, U.S. Navy.
She resided in Kerrville from 1980 until 2006. She was a member of the Kerrville First United Methodist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, the Colonial Dames, the Daughters of the Confederacy, and Magna Charta Dames.
Survivors include her children, Howard W. Gray Jr. and Janet Gray Hopkins; her grandchildren, Jennifer Gray Kuntzman, Sara Gray Vickers, and John Gray; and a great-grandchild, Marsial Vickers.
Visitation was held Friday, Dec. 26, in the Homestead Funeral Home Chapel in Grand Prairie.
A funeral service was held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Chaplain Cliff Johnston officiating.
Interment followed in the Oakland Cemetery.
