Herman was born July 15, 1913 to Thomas Robert and Mary Polina Erickson Chaney in Martinsville, Missouri. In the early years Herman worked in Chicago at a wire factory, later moving to the Livingston and Daviess County Missouri area. He worked as a farm laborer in the Chillicothe area. Herman enjoyed the outdoors and loved going fishing. He dedicated his later years to serving the handicapped and those less fortunate.
Herman was perceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters, Norma Henderson, Lula Royston, Ella Moulin, Lucille Griffin and Verda Harding and a brither Omar Chaney.
Survivors include; neices Maryetta Ray, Gallaton, Mo., Dorothy Underwood, Bethany Mo., Nadine Graham, Warrensburg, Mo., Nancy Lingo, Lebanon, Mo.; nephews, Charles Moulin, Kansas City, Mo., Kenneth Zeornes, Lebanon, Mo., Marvin Harding, Deleware, several other neices and nephews and a host of friends.
