ABERNATHY----Barbara Britt Abernathy, 85 of Jacksonville, FL passed away May 16, 2010 following a lengthy illness. She was born August 4, 1924 in Sacramento, CA, the daughter of William H. Britt and Beatrice Miller Britt. Barbara was a kind and dear wife, mother, and friend, always smiling and willing to help others. She was predeceased by her husband James Abernathy and her son Thomas Borghesi. Surviving are her son Mark Abernathy (Deena); her granddaughter Carrie; and her many friends at Emeritus Assisted Living. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday May 28, 2010 in the chapel of Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park. Inurnment will follow in Jacksonville Memory Gardens. Family and friends will gather from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial donations to Heartland Hospice, 8130 Baymeadows Way West, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
