Rose L. Bennett
Mrs. Rose L. Bennett, 94, of Argos, Indiana, died Tuesday, April 19, 2000 in Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth, Indiana. She was born November 5, 1905 in Warm Springs to Randolph and Alice Smith Hovis. She was married September 5, 1930 to Carl J. Bennett and he died in May 1969.
She and her husband owned and operated Mrs. Bennett's Famous Chicken Dinner restaurants located in Grovertown, Indiana for many years. The restaurant closed in 1962 due to construction of United States Highway 30. She also worked at various restaurants in Plymouth for many years as a hostess.
She was a member of Sunrise Chapel, Moose Lodge of Plymouth, and the Plymouth Country Club and was active as a member of the Community Bridge Club before her health failed.
She is survived by a daughter, Lou Ann Clemens of Argos, Indiana; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Lee Roy Bennett, in 1972, six sisters and one brother.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, April 21, in Van Glider Funeral Home, Plymouth, with Pastor Bonnie Shoaf officiating. Burial in Kewana Odd Fellows Cemetery at Kewana, Indiana under direction of Deaton Funeral Home, Bourbon, Indiana.
