Samuel was my Great-Granduncle.
He was the son of Samuel CAPLE, Jr. (1783-1869) and Nancy "Ann" MANNING.
He was married to Lois WHITCOMB on October 30th, 1873 in Peru, Miami Co., IN.

Samuel served in the Civil War enlisting in Mansfield, OH on 23 Aug 1862 and served for the following three years. He was discharged in Ohio on 26 Jun 1865.
He probably moved to Miami Co., IN about 1867 where at least 2 other brothers also lived. His pension papers list him as being 6 feet tall, dark complexion and dark hair with grey eyes. It listed his occupation as a farmer.
Military service: Between 23 Aug 1862 to 26 Jun 1865, 1st battery Regt. Ohio Light Artillery. Residence: Aft. 1867, Miami Co., OH.
*Cause of death: Cancer of the hand.
