William Edward "Bill" Deaton, 81, died April 22, 2009. He was born into the family of John Earl Deaton and Eula Mae Croft. His parents were both widowed, bringing 8 children into the marriage with 3 more to follow. Bill was born June 29, 1927 in Hominy, OK in a R.R. section house. He attended elementary school in Hominy and Vinita, OK and high school in Chetopa, KS. He graduated from Central State with a Bachelors degree in math and business. He met his wife to be, Melvadean Young, when they were neighbors in Chetopa, Kansas. He joined the Navy during WWII, the day he turned 17. He settled in OKC near family after being discharged. Bill began working for OG&E after his naval service. His career there spanned 40 years, during which he advanced from a boiler tender to chief dispatcher of high voltage transmission. Preceded in death by his parents and all his siblings, he is survived by his wife of 60 years, Melvadean sons, Rob, John and his wife Diana and grandson Thomas. He was a long-term member of Northwest Baptist Church. The family will receive visitors on Sunday from 2-4pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Mon., April 27, 1:00pm at Northwest Baptist Church with interment in Rose Hill Burial Park. Donations may be made to The Next Generation Ministry at Northwest Baptist Church.
