Terra Billington, 67, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with Kyle Pope of Olsen Park Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.
Terra was born Jan. 16, 1941, in Crowell and moved to Amarillo in 1942. She was a 1961 graduate of Palo Duro High School. She met the love of her life, Melvin Billington, at Horace Mann Junior High in the seventh grade. They married April 22, 1961.
She kept children in her home for more than 20 years and loved each one as if they were her very own. In 1986, she began traveling with her husband and helping him along the way as he worked insurance catastrophe claims until retiring in 2003. What she loved most was being with her family and pampering them as much as she could. Above all, she was a godly woman whose life was a beautiful example of how a woman should love her husband, children, grandchildren and friends.
She was a longtime member of Olsen Park Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Melvin; two daughters, Debbie Edwards and Mevanee Dixon and husband Steve, all of Amarillo; a brother, Gayland Vessels of Amarillo; a stepsister, Karen Ratliff of St. Louis; her stepmother, Jewell Vessels of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Jayme Carter, Camron Carter, Skyler Dixon and Mackenzie Dixon; and a great-grandson, Landry Sowers.
The family suggests memorials be to STAR Chapter, Alzheimer's Association, 1400 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106.
