William was the oldest son of John Bolsinger and Elizabeth Higginbotham. He was born in German Township, Fayette Co., Pennsylvania. His siblings were; Phoebe, George W., John and James.
He married Sarah Price, daughter of Price and Winifred Peters, (she was of Welch descent), in 1827 in Fayette Co., PA.
Their first three children, Elizabeth b. 21 Jan 1825, James W. b.1832 (died in infancy,)and Perry Commodore b. 10 Oct. 1834, were all born in New Salem, Menallen Twp., Fayette Co., PA.
Benjamin F. b 1836, and Daniel Sturgean b. 1836, (Twins)were born in Altoona, Blair Co., PA. The next four children's places of birth are unknown; George b. 1838, John died in infancy in 1839, Phoebe Jane, (Jennie) b. 1840, and Jesse Silis Penny Bolsinger b. 13 Feb. 1844.
William was the roadmaster of the Old Portage railroad for many years, and later had charge of the car shops in the Cambria Steel plant at Johnstown. He was one of the well known mechanics of his day. He is laid to rest in the same cemetery as his wife.
