|Birth: ||Mar. 11, 1920|
|Death: ||Oct. 8, 1974|
His birth was recorded as Venus K. Bertram by his mother on the Kentucky Birth Records but most people called him Kaywood. That is why I reversed the order of his names on his memorial page. His name is shown as Veanus K. Bertram on his World War II Army record and the Kentucky Death Records. No one living seems to know why he was given such an unusual name.
He married Gertie Mae Godsey, daughter of Alice (Hardwick) and Oscar Godsey, on 15 Jul 1943. They were the parents of four children, two of whom have lived into adulthood. Their first born was a daughter nasmed Kaye Mae Bertram, born and died 08 May 1944 at Lakeland, Polk Co., Florida, where she is buried in the Roselawn Cemetery. Kaywood was stationed with the Army at Lakeland at the time. Their second child, a son named Douglas Mack Bertram was born on 22 Feb 1946 in Wayne Co., KY and died on 03 May 1946 in Lexington, Fayette Co., Kentucky, with burial at Tuttle Chapel in Wayne Co., KY. Two more children, Van Reid Bertram and Jeanette (Bertram) Simpson Burris, are still living.
