Birth: Apr. 4, 1909
Death: Aug. 9, 1983

Robert Paul Kendall was born in Connecticut, and grew up in New York City, the son of Chester Mirick Kendall and Florence Laflin Howard Kendall. He is a descendant of the storied Kendalls and Howards of Massachusetts, a 14th Gen. great grandson of Geoffrey Chaucer, a 12th generation great grandson of John Alden (Mayflower Compact), and Josiah Kendall, Patriot of the Lexington conflict of April l9, 1775. Numerous colorful historical figures abound in his family tree, on both sides of the Atlantic. His family has a long and noble history of service to God and country. There are 7 generations of ministers in the New England area from which he descended. Paul was in his second year at NYU when his father became ill with "trench mouth", before antibiotics, and therefore, died a painful, agonizing death, at the age of 45. His father was a civil engineer, who was president of the rapid transit section of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and was responsible for the rehabilitation of the aging subway systems of New York, a work that lead to his untimely death. Paul did not recover from this dispair, and found solace elsewhere to deaden his pain. We wish we could have known him, and perhaps have brought him some comfort. God grant you peace, noble prince.
