William Ivey Blitch died this morning at 11 o'clock at the Bartow City Hospital after a long illness. He was born April 12, 1878 at Green Cove Springs, Fla. A retired locomotive engineer, he came to Mulberry in 1919, was employed by the IM&C until 1928, when he moved to Pierce and was employed by AAC from 1928 to 1944 when he retired.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hattie T. Blitch, two sisters, Mrs. Alma Geer, Atlanta, Ga., and Mrs. Pearl Brooker, Green Cove Springs; five brothers, O.T. Blitch, Hendersonville, N.C., H.C. Blitch, Blanton, Ga., F. L. Blitch, Jacksonville, Fla., R. E. Blitch, Coral Gables, Fla., and R. H. Blitch, Quincy, Fla. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, afternoon at 3 o'clock at the A. M. Seigler Funeral Home, the Rev. L. T. Ivey, Green Cove Springs, Rev. Angus McClelland, pastor First Baptist Church, Mulberry and Rev. W. P. Padgett, pastor, Main Street Baptist Church, Bartow officiating. Interment in the Gandy cemetery. A. M. Seigler in charge of arrangements.
NOTE: He died on the 14th of October.

Bartow, Oct 14 (Special) ---
William I. Blitch, grove owner and retired locomotive engineer, died at 11 a.m. today at Bartow General Hospital where he had been a patient for four days. He was a native of Green Cove Springs and was an engineer for the Florida East Coast Railroad for a number of years before injuries received in a wreck caused him to resign and move to Mulberry in 1919. He worked for a phosphate company there, as locomotive engineer, for about nine years, and then accepted a similar position at Pierce, retiring in 1944 to live on his grove at Connersville. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Hattie R. Blitch; two sisters, Mrs. Alma Greer*, Atlanta, and Mrs. Pearl Brooker, Green Cove Springs; and five brothers, O. T., Anderson, N.C.; H. C., Blanton, Ga.; F.L., Jacksonville; R. E., Coral Gables and R. H., Quincy. Last rites will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at A. M. Seigler Funeral Home in Mulberry. Officiating will be the Rev. L. T. Ivey of Green Cove Springs, the Rev. Angus McClelland of Mulberry First Baptist Church and the Rev. W. P. Padgett, pastor of Main Street Baptist Church, Bartow.
Interment in Gandy Cemetery.
