MADISON A. BAGBY age 83, of Hemet, passed away peacefully early Saturday, March 22, 2008, at his home, surrounded by his family. Madison was born in Escondito July 21, 1924. He grew up on his parents homestead near Cahuilla [Wilson Valley] and he attended the one room school at Cottonwood. He graduated from Hemet High School in 1941. In 1944 First Lt. Madison became a B-17 pilot, was stationed in England and flew bombing raids over Germany. He then served in Los Alamos, New Mexico, in the Atomic Energy Commission Security force from 1947 to 1954. While in Los Alamos, he met a teacher Margaret Elizabeth Nichols who he married. Madison and Margaret shared 55 years of marriage. Madison and Margaret settled in the Sage area south of Hemet where Madison and Margaret started a Chicken ranch and then a bulldozing earthwork business which evolved into Bagby Enterprises Inc. Madison loved the outdoors, operating tractors, reading books, and being home with family. He is survived by wife Margaret; brother, Leslie Kolb of Ft Jones; daughter, Susan Bagby and two grandaughters, Anna and Sara Frazer of Santa Cruz; son Matt and Wendy Bagby and grandchildren, Sara Jordon of Costa Mesa, Jackie, Wendy, Nathan and Cole Bagby of Hemet; son, David and Sharon
