Highly Respected Woman Summoned after Illness Covering Last Two Years.
After a valiant fight for the past two years against the dreaded malady, cancer, Mrs. Nancy M. Applegate passed out of this life at her home, four miles east and 1-1/2 miles north of this city this morning at 2:30 o'clock. Mrs. Applegate was a constant sufferer and for some time the end was not unexpected.
The deceased was born in Kentucky October 2, 1869, and has resided in this section for the past thirty years, being well known and highly respected by all who knew her. As Miss Nancy Tudor she was united in marriage to William Applegate in this city March 8, 1893. She is survived by her husband and mother, Mrs. Robert Billsbury of this city, one sister, Mrs Nora Phillips of Kentucky, also four half-sisters---Mrs. Mary Fitzgerald of Chicago, Mrs. Cora Messersmith of this city, Miss Eva Billsbury of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Leah Darnell of this city; two half-brothers, John and William Billsbury of Chicago.
Mrs. Applegate was a member of the United Brethren church at Missal and led an upright Christian life.
The funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock a the residence, Rev. Puffer of Ransom officiating. The interment will be made in Phillips cemetery.

Rev. T. W. Puffer Pays Tribute to Memory of Christian Woman
Rev. T. W. Puffer, pastor of the Methodist church of Ransom, pays a beautiful tribute to the memory of Mrs. Nancy M. Applegate in the following language:
Nancy M. Tudor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Tudor was born in Srittenden(sp?) county, Kentucky, and when seventeen yeas of age came to Illinois, with the family, settling in Streator, in and around which city she has since made her home.......
