Andrew Jackson Brown was born in Indianapolis, Marion county, Indiana, January 12, 1854, and died at his home on south Mill street, Crawfordsville, Indiana, February 13, 1914, being at the time of his death 60 years, 1 month and 1 day old. He lived the whole of his life in the state of Indiana. He came to Montgomery county with his parents in April, 1859. October 12, 1882, he was united in marriage to Martha J. Beckleheimer. To this union were born three children, two daughters and one son. One daughter, Gertie, at the tender age of three years, preceded him to that eternal home. The other daughter, Mrs. Minnie McMillin, and his son, John, with their mother, his wife survive him.
Three years ago at the christian Volunteer mission at Roachdale, Bro. Brown was gloriously converted to God, and his daily life was one of complete victory. Friends and neighbors and fellow workmen knew that Jack Brown had salvation because he lived it in his every day life.
April 6, 1913, he united with the Free Methodist church in Crawfordsville and remained a faithful true Pilgrim until the time of his death. He was held in high esteem by all the members of the church. And while we shall miss him and sadly feel our loss here, we know our loss is his eternal gain. Besides his wife, one son and one daughter, he leaves to mourn his loss, two grandchildren, one sister, Nancy Brown, and one brother, Ephriam Brown, both of Ladoga, Indiana.
