William Ulysses Faunce was born 5 April 1864 at Colburton, De Kalb County, Indiana, son of Daniel Faunce and Samantha Alton.

William was married on 21 March 1887 in Fremont, Newaygo County, Michigan to Mary Isabelle Davis. Minister Charles W. Gardner conducted the ceremony, which was witnessed by Duane Darling and Anna Alton. Belle was born on 23 May 1867 in Indiana., Mary was the daughter of Daniel Davis and Mary Elizabeth Lewis.

In June 1900, the couple and their four children- Faith, Hop, Verald, and Izetta- lived in Tuscarora township, Cheboygan County, Michigan. William owned his farm. The two oldest daughters had attended school in the previous year.

In early 1910 the couple lived in Bear Creek township, Cheboygan County in the household of John and Hattie (?) Yell. William was working as a farmer while Bell stayed home and helped cared for their seven children- Hope, Verald, Izzett, Donald, Cleo, Lile, and Faith. Faith's husband Sheldon Cole was living with them, he worked as a machinist for gasoline engines. Hope was teaching district school while William worked as a farmer.

On 10 January 1920, the couple lived at 1043 Lawrence Street in Petoskey, Emmet County, Michigan with five of their children- Hope, Izetta, Donald, Roland, and Lyle. William worked as a carpenter, Hope as a music tacher, Izetta as a teacher at a public school, and Donald was attending school and working as a clerk. The family owned their own house.

On 11 April 1930, William and Belle lived at 1043 Curtis Avenue in Petoskey with their son Lyle and a 71-year-old boarder, Estella Goist. William and Lyle were doing odd job carpentry while Belle was a "baker at home." Their house was valued at $3,500.

Belle died on 24 December 1934 in Petoskey from "arterias angina pectoro."

William died on 22 September 1936 in Petoskey from arterioschlerosis.

William and Isabelle are buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Petoskey.

William and Isabelle (Davis) Faunce were the parents of seven children:

i. FAITH EVELYN FAUNCE was born on 12 December 1887 in Tuscarora township, Cheboygan County, Michigan.
ii. HOPE ETHELYN FAUNCE was born on 7 August 1889 in Tuscarora township, Cheboygan County, Michigan.
iii. VERALD DANIEL FAUNCE was born on 8 October 1894 in Tuscarora township, Cheboygan County, Michigan.
iv. IZETTA R. FAUNCE was born on 2 December 1896 in Michigan.
v. DONALD BENJAMIN FAUNCE was born on 21 June 1903 in Michigan.
vi. ROLAND CLEO FAUNCE was born on 29 August 1905 in Michigan.
vii. LYLE RAYMOND FAUNCE was born on 19 October 1908 in Michigan.
