Raymond A. Harms Col. AUS Ret. 78 years of age, died Feb 20,1997. He was born in Newton,Ks to Peter and Emma Huuss Harms, He attended school there and worked for Brown service Station for a time. Ray had resided in Pierce County for the past 20 years. During WWII he was with the 33 Division in the South Pacific Theater of War. While at Ft. Lawton, WA, Ray served as Commandant of the 6234th USAR School as well as commander of HQ 174th Support Group HQ 124th USARCOM. He retired with the Rank of Col. and was the recipient of numerous awards and decorations including the Legion of Merit. As a civilian Ray was a retired nurseryman and served as President of the WA State Nurserymen's Assn.  and two time President of the Tahoma Fuchsia Society. He held memberships in the Retired Officers Assn. and a lifetime member of the Reserve Officers Assn. Survivors include his beloved wife of 38 years, Jean; sons, Richard [Terrell] Harms, Jeffrey [Debbie] Harms; grandchildren, Lauren Harms and Patrick Harms. Viewing Sun., 11 a.m. Graveside service with full military honors Mon., 11:30a.m., Mt. View Memorial Park. Memorial service Mon., 1p.m. at Little Church on the Prairie.
