He served in 3 different Regts during the 2 years he was in the Army: E Company 44th Indiana Infantry; L Company 1st Ohio Light Artillery; L Company 1st Ohio Heavy Artillery.

Randolph was younger brother to Laurin Dimmick who is my Great Great Grandfather. Laurin was married to Rachael Holderbaum. Rachaels's younger brother was William Holderbaum. Randolph and William served in the 44th IND together. They decided to leave the 44th without leave as they did not agree with many of the commanders orders. Don't know what happened to William but Randolph reinlisted into the Ohio Artillary.
