Nothing is known of Andrew's Irish roots. He arrived in the Port of Boston in May 1873 aboard the SS Heda and resided in North Brookfield from 1875-1886, finally settling in Spencer, MA.
In 1880 he married Nellie Sullivan from Keelties, Farranfore, Co. Kerry, Ireland. Together they raised 5 children at their home at 15 School St.-

Andrew worked in the shoe industry as did sons William, Daniel (briefly), George who died as a result of on the job injuries at Isaac Prouty & Co and Joseph (for a short while). All the Bowes men worked, at one point or another, at Isaac Prouty & Co.
Andrew's sons left no heirs so sadly, this family is remembered only by the nieces and nephews of the wife of Andrew's son Joseph.
