Richard was born in Boone County, Arkansas, the oldest child of Joseph and Gabriella (McCranie) Andrews. He had a brother, Joseph, and a sister, Elvira.

Richard married Grace Eudora Whatley and they had two children, Betty Lou, and Richard, Jr.

Two weeks following surgery, Richard contracted pneumonia. He passed away on January 26th, 1937 at the age of 44. He is survived by his wife, Grace, his children, his father, and his sister, all residents of Douglas.

Funeral services will be held in Phoenix with interment in Douglas.

Richard Andrews was widely known in railroad circles. He was the representative of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen at Douglas on the joint railroad legislative committee of the rail workers. In that capacity he came to Phoenix two weeks ago to attend a meeting of the state committee, but was taken ill soon after his arrival.
