Ralph E. Crean - (The Enterprise)

Goffstown, N.H. Ralph Edwin Crean, 86, died March 14, 2008, comfortably at home after a long illness. Born in Stoughton, Mass., on July 25, 1921, he was a son of Dennis and Rosabel (Pollycutt) Crean. He lived in Stoughton, Mass., where he married his beloved Pauline Dean. He later moved to New Boston and Goffstown. Mr. Crean served in World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of the 47th Fighter Squadron in the Central Pacific area and served in Iwo Jima for eight months. He was a member of the Goffstown chapter of the American Legion. He worked at Shawmut Mill and then later as plant manager for Groval Knitted Fabrics in Manchester until his retirement. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and a lifelong member of the N.R.A. Horses were a passion. He cherished sharing time with his grandchildren, large extended family and friends. Mr. Crean was the ultimate Red Sox fan. He will be remembered for his selfless generosity, his love for his family, his children and his grandchildren. Family members include his sons, Stephen Crean and his wife Tina of Goffstown and William Crean and his wife Lorraine of New Boston; his grandchildren, Joseph Crean and wife Nikki, Carolyn Crean, Michelle Crean, Amanda and Dan Crean; and his adored great-grandson, Jason Crean; two sisters, Eileen Laporte of North Easton, Mass., and Elizabeth Ventresco of West Stoughton, Mass.; his brother, Daniel Crean of Pensacola, Fla.; many nieces; nephews; and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Pauline; and his brothers; and sisters, Joseph Crean, Virginia Crean, Albert Crean, Jean Hausamann, Robert Crean, and Henry Crean. Calling hours will be Monday from 4-8 p.m. at French and Rising Funeral Home, 17 South Mast Street, Goffstown. Funeral services will be Tuesday 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Spring burial will be in the Shirley Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made in his name to the Goffstown American Legion Post, c/o Alex MacNeil, P.O. Box 668, Goffstown, NH 03045.
