Chester Francis Golden
Chester Francis Golden died of heart failure October 23, 1997 at his home in Apple Valley, California after a lengthy illness. He was 75 years and five months.
Services were held at the Dudley Apple Valley Mortuary on Oct. 28, 1997. Burial was in the Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Apple Valley, California.
Mr. Golden was born in Crawford, Nebraska on May 28, 1922. He was the son of Hugh B. Golden and Jessie (Church) Golden. He married Ellen Marie Hansen on August 9, 1941 in Scottsbluff, NE. In November 1942 they moved to Utah where they worked at Hill Air Force Base. Following the WWII, they moved back to Lusk where they owned and operated the Best Cafe in partnership with Francis' parents.
Due to his severe arthritis, they moved to Apple Valley, California where he could reside in a drier and warmer climate. His health improved and he became involved in the Real Estate business.
He became owner of the "Chet" Golden Real Estate and was a General Contractor in residential and commercial building. After 42 years in the real estate business, he retired in 1983.
He was involved in civic activities. He was President of Apple Valley Elementary, Victor Valley Joint Union High School and a member of Victor Valley College Boards of Trustees. He served on the Personnel Commission of the Victor Valley High School District and the Apple Valley Unified School District.
Mr. Golden was also a member of the Apple Valley Fire District Board and Salvation Army Advisory Board. He was the past president of Victor Valley Board of Realtors and a past member of Apple Valley Kiwanis Club.
He is survived by his wife, Marie, two daughters, DeAnn Hudgens of Victorville and Greta Nolan of Apple Valley, California; and three sons, Ronald of Simi Valley, California, Keith and Dean of Apple Valley. Also one brother, Burdette of Torrington, Wyoming; and three sisters, Stella Marie Pugsley of Torrington, Wyoming, Arlene Pugsley of Ukiah , Oregon, and Leota Odle of St. George, Utah; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William (Bill) H. Powell.
