James "Jim" C. Broyles Jr., 69, of Amarillo, died Saturday, May 3, 2008.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. F.M. Byford officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
Jim was born Sept. 12, 1938, in Glencoe, Okla., to James and Carrie Broyles. He graduated from high school in Anadarko, Okla., and served in the National Guard. He was instrumental in the building of the Fort Cobb Dam in Oklahoma. He received his associate degree from Amarillo College and worked for the Bureau of Reclamation for 31 years.
He owned and managed Cutie Beauty Stop in Amarillo for many years. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events, bird watching and traveling. Jim was a dependable, generous and loving father, grandfather and friend. He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Ratliff; and his father, James Broyles.
Survivors include his mother, Carrie Broyles of Anadarko; a sister, Phyllis Blalock and husband Leslie of Anadarko; a brother, Gerald Broyles of Grand Crowley; companion and partner for 24 years, Patsy Mitchell of Amarillo; three daughters, Cari Beebe, Lisa Walsh and Leslie Johns, all of Amarillo; a son, Robert Hood of Lumberton; seven grandchildren, Taylor, Blake, Caitlyn, Haley, Sydney, Avery and Rope; and special family friends including Tammy Proffitt, Dustin Lake and Helena, Cal, Justina, Deana and Mitchell Hero.
