A truly remarkable woman! Lived and raised her family in remote and desolate area of Texas. Daughter of William R. (a veteran of the Army of the Republic) & Sarah Dicey (Kay) Caruthers. Grew up in Fayette and Atascosca counties, TX where her father was a surveyor and her mother was a midwife. First the wife of William Wright and mother of George William Wright; then the wife of Henry Clay Chamberlain and mother of G. N. Chamberlain, James Chamberlain, J. J. Chamberlain, H. C. Chamberlain, Sarah Dorah (Chamberlain) Jones, Belle (Chamberlain)Estep, Elizabeth (Chamberlain) Mayfield and Huldy Jane (Chamberlain) Lewis Gatt. She lived to be 70 years old.
