John H. A. Deal, 59, of rural Mt. Leonard, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery. Rev. Dave Huck will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Marshall or St. Luke's Hospital, with online condolences made at www.campbell-lewis.com.

Born Oct. 31, 1947, in Waverly, he was the son of the late John Huston Deal and Edna Mae Nieman Deal. He was a graduate of Coolidge High School in Coolidge, Ariz. and Missouri Valley College in Marshall. He had lived in Saline County most of his life and was a research chemist and farmer. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and Trilumina Lodge #205 A.F. & A.M. in Marshall.

Survivors include one brother, Robert M. Deal of the home; one sister, Betty Lusk of Milton-Freewater, Ore.; and one niece, Kim Knox.
