Ernest Lee Garrett Sr., 81, died on June 10, 2008, at home after a lengthy illness.
He was born on April 18, 1927, in Caddo County, Okla., to Herbert and Ida May Garrett.
At age 16 he enlisted in the Navy service on the AUSS Block Island until his discharge in 1946.
Following his service he worked various jobs before completing school in Kansas City getting his electrical license.
He worked as a lineman for Southwest Bell Telephone Co. in Oklahoma City.
He enlisted in the Air Force National Guard in 1952 where he served as Tech Sergeant until 1955.
He moved to Casper in 1955 where he was employed by Mountain Bell.
He married Patricia (Beattie) Vaudrey on May 11, 1956, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He spent many summers coaching little league baseball.
He was a member of the Shriners, Masonic Temple, and Telephone Pioneers.
He volunteered for the hospital installing many life lines over the years.
He is survived by three sons and their spouses, Ernest Garrett Jr., Kevin Vaudrey, and Ken Garrett, four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, parents, daughter, Kimberly, seven sisters and three brothers.
Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery in Casper with Military honors accorded by the Natrona County United Veterans Council and the Wyoming National Guard.
