Sumner Doyle Tye

Services for Sumner Doyle Tye, 75, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006, at St. Mark United Methodist Church in Cleburne. Dr. Leonard Radde will officiate. Burial will be in the Tye Cemetery, Burleson.

Mr. Tye passed away Sunday, Feb. 12, 2006, in Ennis, Texas. He was born in Paducah, Texas, on Oct. 9, 1930, to Cleo Reece Tye and Ida Vee Coats.

Mr. Tye was a retired certified jailor for the Johnson County Sheriff's Office. He graduated from Paducah High School and in 1956 from Texas Weslyan University. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and loved singing in the choir.

He was also a member of Nolands River Masonic Lodge No. 453 of Rio Vista and recipient of his 50-year pin and a member of the Odd Fellows/Rebeccas. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Sumner Doyle Tye is survived by his son, Todd Reece Tye of Sherman; brother, Bryan Tye and wife, Gloria, of Grandview; sister, Wanda Cleo Tye Scott and husband, Boyce, of Perryton; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
