Austin Beidler 1854-1934
Austin Beidler was born in February 1854 in Ohio to Henry S. Beidler and Elizabeth (Gish) Beidler.
He came to the Wallowa Valley in 1879, with his brother Frank Gish Beidler. They had walked from Ohio with a number of other men and a wagon that hauled what bedding and clothes they had, to Oregon. They first came to the Prairie Creek area in Wallowa county and lived near the old fort that was located there at the time.
Austin's father, Henry Beidler came from Ohio, with the rest of the family in 1881 to Wallowa county and traveled on the same wagon train that brought Austin's future wife, Melissa Alford.
Austin's brother, Jackob "Jake" Beidler never came out West with the family but moved to Hays county, Texas.
He married Meliss Alford in 1888. She was the daughter of James Alford and Harriet J. (Goldsmith) Alford.
They became the parents to six children; Herbert Beidler, Harry Beidler, Jay Beidler, Harland Daniel Beidler, Thelma (Beidler) Harris and Edna (Beidler) Kiel.
Austin passed away on July 8, 1934 in Wallowa, Oregon due to complications from chronic myocarditis. He was buried in the Wallowa Cemetery on July 10, 1934.
