Henry Cable was born about 1831 in Ross Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, the son of John and Mary Cable. He had several siblings.

Henry married first to Eliza (only one source for her name on the 1860 census). They had the following children: Josiah (c1853-1883); John Wesley (c1856-1927); and possibly a daughter, C E. Cable, also on the 1860 census.

Henry married second to Mary McKain, daughter of Andrew McKain and Elizabeth McKain (nee Dawson). They had two children: Luella (1867-1886) married Louis Bentel and Andrew McKain (c1869-1886).

Henry died in Allegheny City (now currently a part of Pittsburgh), known ad North Side, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. His son, Josiah, is buried in the same single grave. There is no headstone for either of them.

There is a probate record in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, for him. The administrator is his son John W. Cable.
