DEATH OF MRS JOSEPH RACKLEY

Our town was sadly startled Friday morning at the news of the death of Mrs. Hattie Allen Rackley, which occured during the day's early morning hours. She had been in her usual good health until about a week ago, when she sustainned an accidental fall from which her loved ones had hoped she had recovered. Internal complication brought on disorders, which skillful attention could not remedy and after some hours of unconsciousness, she passed into the great Beyond. She left no words of cheer or consulation to her loved ones, but her long life of consecration to her Master and her devotion in their behalf is a richer heritage than any words could give. As she passed into the great shadows it is natural that they would like to have some words from her, but her life's work tells us in unmistakeable terms that she found her Savior waiting and above death's dark rushing waters came that comforting voice "Be not afraid, it is I."

Mrs. Rackley was born and reared at Milledgeville, Baldwin county, Georgia as Miss Hattie Allen. In her early girlhood was married to Mr. Joseph Rackley, a member of one of Burke county's most honorable families. They lived as honored citizens of Burke county and reared a family of six children. Mr. Rackley died about seven years ago, and left her to care the responsible duty of fitting for life their precious children. They have looked well to the admonition and precept of their parents and will honor the name they bare.

The life of this good woman was of self sacrifice and in her sphere of activity she did what she could, and what more can be said of any one. Mrs. Rackley was buried in the Magnolia Cemetery with the services conducted at her home by her pastor, Mr. S. B. Cousins, pastor of the Waynesboro Baptist church. To her children, Mrs. R. C. McBride, Misses Ethel, Connie, Elma and Mr. Joe and Frank, we extend our truest sympathy.
