Thomas was the son of James Jasper Adams and Lucinda Smith. He married Hannah Lemon, 16 Nov. 1956. Their children were John Henry Adams, Charlotte Adams, Mary Alice Adams, Helen Adams, Georgia Ann Fears, Lilly Bell Owen, James Thomas Adams, Joseph "Joe" Adams, Nancy Ann "Nannie" Adams, Mansfield Adams, Thomas "Tom" Edward Adams, and Will Shipman Adams. He was a First Sargent, Company B, 3rd MS Infantry, 1862-1865.
