Clara Mae Byrd, 92, of Hamilton died on January 11, 1999 at her residence. She was born on November 29, 1906 near Shottsville, the daughter of Robert Lindsey and Louchester (Goggans) McCarley. She was a retired school teacher and a member of Bethlehem Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Scogin. Survivors include her husband, Clyde, of the home; one son, Linwood Byrd of Pelham; and one granddaughter. Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 13 at Hamilton Funeral Home with Rev. Preston Headrick officiating. Burial was in Smyrna Cemetery.
