Golda E. Eslick was born April 7, 1913, in Broadview, Montana, the third of six children born to Alfred and Florence (Flannery) Eslick. In 1915, she moved with her family to Elk Point, South Dakota, where she grew up and received her education.
Golda was united in marriage to Orville Lewison on August 27, 1929 in DeSmet, South Dakota. They lived one year on a farm near Elk Point where their first child was born. In 1932, they moved to the Philip area where they farmed northwest of Philip and where they had five more children. The continued to farm and ranch northwest of Philip until moving into Philip in 1966. While in Philip, Golda did domestic work and later was a cook at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital, until retiring in 1996.
Golda's husband Orville preceded her in death on February 20, 1994. Golda continued to reside in Philip until moving to the Good Samaritan Center in Lennox, where she has since resided.
Golda was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Philip, where she served as janitor for eleven years, and the Bad River Senior Citizens of Philip.
Survivors include three sons Larry Lewison and his wife Suzanne of Hurley, South Dakota, Arnold Lewison and his wife Evelyn of Kimball, Nebraska, and Tony Lewison of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; three daughters Jacqueline Thorson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Cheryl Baker of Pierre, and Bonita Poss of Watseka, Illinois; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one brother Rudolph Eslick of Elk Point; one sister Katheryn Popken of Santa Marie, California; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband Orville, Golda was preceded in death by one grandson Nick Poss; her parents; two brothers Alfred Eslick and John Eslick; one sister Madeline Flanders; and three son-in-laws Lawrence Thorson, Clell Baker, and John Poss.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, at the Rush Funeral Home in Philip, and one hour preceding the services at the church on Friday.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 18, at the First Lutheran Church in Philip, with Pastor Frezil Westerlund officiating.
Interment will be at the Masonic Cemetery, Philip.
