March 1919
---Marcus Eugene Warren, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Warren was born at Blakesburg, Iowa, February 27, 1892 and departed this life in the A. S. O. Hospital in Kirksville, Mo., at nine o'clock, Friday morning, March 14, 1919, aged twenty-seven years and fourteen days. When about eleven years of age he moved with his parents to a farm southeast of Kirksville. There he was received into the Presbyterian church, Nov. 22, 1913.
---He married Miss Bertha Sautter, December 22, 1912. They lived in Kirksville and vicinity for about two years, then moved to Hannibal and later to Quincy, where he answered his country's call May 14, 1918. He was stationed at Camp McArthur, Waco, Texas where he served as cook for three months and was then advanced to the rank of First-class Sergeant. He was given his honorable discharge with a year's service, January 2, 1919.
---Soon after returning home he went to Odessa, Mo, where he had a position. He worked one day when he became ill with influenza which later developed into pneumonia. After being ill for a month it was decided to bring him to Kirksville. He was brought here about three weeks ago.
---During his weeks of suffering he was very patient and considerate of others. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. A. F. Ziegel at the Cater church, Sunday afternoon, March 15, at 2:30 o'clock. A squad of soldiers acted as pall bearers. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and little daughter, Eva, three years of age, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Waren, his brothers, M. E. Warren of Ottumwa, Ia., M. E. and C. F. Warren of Kirksville, one sister, Mrs. J. E. Cunningham of near Gibbs, and Bernie Warren, southeast of Kirksville.

---We wish to thank our friends for their kindness and sympathy in the sickness and death of our son and brother, Eugene Warren.
---We are especially grateful to the soldier boys.
---MR. & MRS. O. A. WARREN
