Christian Biography of Wayne Warren Headrick
Wayne Warren Headrick, the son of Clyde and Ethel (Warren) Headrick, was born in a
Clapboard house on January 3, 1916 near Olive Hill, Kansas south of Superior, Nebraska. He
passed away on September 6, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Society in Superior, Nebraska at the
age of 92 years, 8 months and 3 days.
In 1924 Wayne was baptized in the Republican River near what they call Keifers Canyon
by the Rev. Ira Wagner. He was also confirmed that same year at the Olive Hill Church south of
Superior. He attended the Olive Hill Church until 1960 when he became a member of the United
Methodist Church in Superior. As a child he attended the Triumph Rural School in the Montana
Township near Olive Hill and graduated from Superior High School with the class of 1933. He
was a veteran of the Army, Technician Fourth Grade, 839th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Automatic
Weapons Battalion, enlisting in September 18, 1942 at Ft. Crook, Nebraska and being honorably
discharged after the end of WWII February 24, 1946 at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas.
Wayne was united in marriage to Marjorie Platt on February 23, 1941 in Council Groves,
Kansas by the Rev. Ira Wagner and to this union one daughter, Bonnie was born. Marjorie passed
away on July 22, 1991. He was united in marriage to Alvina Grummert Newell in Las Vegas,
Nevada on August 4, 1999.
Wayne lived in the communities of Kingman, Kansas, North Platte, Nebraska, Horseshoe
Bend, Arkansas and Alamo, Texas retiring in Superior, Nebraska. He was a member of the
United Methodist Church, Superior, Nebraska, the American Legion, Lions Club and the Elks.
He enjoyed dancing and loved to walk.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marjorie and two brothers, Omar
and Wendell and one step son James Newell.
He is survived by his wife Alvina of Superior, Nebraska, daughter Bonnie Hunt and
husband Sumner of Brimfield, Illinois, two grandchildren, Stefanie Hunt-Jenkins and husband
William and Darren Hunt and wife Becca. Five great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Jessica, Savannah,
Hailey and McKenzie. Step-Children, Charlotte Persson and husband Larry of Superior,
Nebraska, Charlene Robison of Kearney, Nebraska, Nancy McCorkle and husband Darrell of
Burr Oak, Kansas, Alice Belden and husband David of Burr Oak, Kansas and Pat Mohler and
husband Evan of Coolidge, Arizona. He is also survived by his sister, Doris Coffman of Pleasant
Grove, Alabama and one brother, Rex Headrick and wife Nancy of Jewell, Kansas and one sister
in law Esther Headrick of New Braunfels, Texas along with a host of nieces, nephews other
relatives and friends.
