Private First Class Florek was a veteran of World War II.
In Korea, he was a member of Company C, 13th Engineer Combat Battalion, 7th Infantry Division. On May 17, 1951, he was riding in a truck near Chonbae-Hyon, South Korea when it overturned killing him.
Private First Class Florek was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
