FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Adolph Joseph Baron, 90, formerly of Vernon, Conn., and Winslow, Maine, passed away peacefully on Oct. 4 in Fredericksburg.
A lifelong resident of Vernon, Mr. Baron moved to Winslow in the mid-1980s to retire following a highly successful career as a sales engineer. Mr. Baron was a World War II Navy veteran who served the United States proudly and honorably, mainly in the South Pacific. In 1955, he joined the Civil Air Patrol as a pilot, where he participated in search and rescue operations in New England. He reached the rank of lieutenant colonel, achieving the position of executive, then commanding officer of the Eastern Connecticut Group of the Connecticut Wing.

Mr. Baron was devoted to his family, his community and the Roman Catholic faith.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Violet; and leaves behind three sons, Geoffrey of Norwich, Conn., James of Fredericksburg, and Russell of Houston, Texas, their loving wives, and six grandchildren.

A holy Mass will be celebrated at noon Friday, Oct. 7, at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fredericksburg.

Interment will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Easthampton, Mass. (Morning Sentinel 10/7/2011)
