Henry Ransom Armstrong, one of our most highly respected citizens, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Chermak, on Sunday, July 6th, 1913. The funeral was held from the M.E. church on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, Rev. E.C. Teachout conducting the services. The interment was made in the family lot in the Saratoga Cemetery.
Mr. Armstrong was born near Shoreham, Vermont, August 18th, 1832. He went to California in 1853 where he remained eight years and then returned to Vermont. In 1862 he came, with his parents, to Minnesota and has lived in Chatfield and its vicinity since then. He was married to Harriet A Coffin September 26th, 1863. To them six children were born, three of whom died in early youth, and Mrs. Ruth Coe Meeker died last year. Mrs. Carrie Chermake and Miss Eleanor Armstrong, both of this city, survive. The deceased also leaves two sisters: Mrs. Harriet Titus, of Beloit, Wisconsin , and Mrs. S.B. Maynard, of Chatfield.
Mr. Armstrong was a member of the A.F. & A.M., and was a devoted member of the M.E. church, a loyal citizen and a good neighbor. The family have the sincere sympathy of the community in their bereavement.
