Born Jan. 10, 1960 in Holland, he was the son of William and Karin Atherton. He attended St. John's Lutheran Church in Grand Haven.
Mr. Atherton was a chef at Sandy Point Restaurant in West Olive.
Surviving are his parents; two brothers, John of West Olive and Richard of Owosso; three sisters, Mrs Ronald (Pamela) Kamphuis of Wyoming, Mrs Ronald (Jennifer) VanWieren of Hudsonville and Mrs Thomas (Sondra) Ledbetter of West Olive; Grandmother Alberta Atherton of Fairfax, VA and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 pm in the Notier-VerLee-Langeland Chapel with Pastor Cecil Klages officiating. Burial will be at Pine Ridge Cemetery.
