The remains of Alvah J. Allgood of Rose Hill, an overseas soldier, were received today at the Wilcox-Garland-Wilbur parlors. He was killed in France November 1, 1918, during the Argonno offensive, aged 23 years, 1 month and 12 days. He was mustered into service at Camp Lewis in Washington, June 27, 1918, and was sent overseas early in September. He took part in the St. Mihiel drive and later was transferred to the Argonne sector where he met his death. Funeral services will be held at the Wilcox-Garland-Wilbur parlors Sunday, October 16, 1921, and interment will be made in the Wymore cemetery. The funeral will be held under the auspices of the American Legion. Deceased is survived by the father Alexander Allgood, seven brothers -- Frank and William of Kansas, Fred of Minnesota, Charles and Leo of Mahaska county, Homer of Minnesota, Clarence of Montana, and a sister, Mrs. S.A. Lockard of Mahaska county. Deceased enlisted in the service at Geraldiac, Montann. (Oskaloosa Daily Herald, Oct. 14, 1921, p. 12)
