Lucinda Ann (Watkins) Adams
June 2, 1927
Lucinda Ann Watkins was born July 12, 1842 in Ohio. She died May 29, 1927, at Wagoner, Oklahoma. She attained the advanced age of 84 years 10 months and 27 days.
She was married to Harrison A. Adams, November 10, 1859, at Rushsylvania, Ohio. To this union were born four sons and five daughters, all of whom grew to manhood and womanhood; James N., William S., Harrison C., Francis N., of California, Mrs. Fannie N. Miller of Kansas and Mrs. Florence L. French and Mrs. Laura A. Wolf of Wagoner, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Wolf and Mrs. French and the two sons-in-law were at the bedside when death called her Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Adams had been an invalid requiring constant care, for the last six years; through which Mrs. French, Mrs. Wolf, and Mr. and Mr. Francis N. Adams have been her faithful nurses and companions. Her husband preceded her in death, October 23, 1899.
In 1875, she and her family moved to Jewel County, Kansas, where she made her home until last July, when under the advice of her doctor and friends she was brought to Wagoner, thinking the warmer climate would be beneficial.
In 1889 she united with the Evangelical Church of Jewel, Kansas. May her soul find peace and comfort. Her friends will miss her.
Funeral services were held at the Hersman undertaking parlor, conducted by Rev. Virtes Williams of the Christian Church. The body was laid to rest in the Wagoner Cemetery Tuesday afternoon.
