Retired MSGT Zollie E. Flowers, age 85 of Lampasas, TX died Wednesday October 9, 2013 at Rollins Brook Community Hospital. Zollie was born August 11, 1928 in Mangum, OK the son of William Thomas Flowers and Martha Era Jane (Timmons) Flowers. He married Loretta Joyce "Birdie " (Byrd) January 9, 1949 in Wellington, TX.

His career took him to duty stations in Greenland, Germany, Newfoundland, Aleutian Islands, MS, MI, OK and TX. He worked for Radio Shack for many years. Zollie then started farming and raising vegetables and selling them around Central Texas. He was a member of Lometa United Methodist Church.

Survivors include 5 daughters; Judy Carol Robinson and husband Bill, Lynda J. Smith and husband Evan, Cathy J. Flowers, Patty Jo Morrow and husband John, Jackie Lee Smith and husband Russell; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; Brother, Floyd Flowers of AZ Sister, Mary Sue Smith of Woodlands, TX

Zollie was preceded in death by his wife in 2011, by a brother, William Flowers and by 2 sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday October 13, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Lometa United Methodist Church with Pastor Jenny Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Nix Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday October 12, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel.
