Dorothy Grace (Hughes) Baronner, 94, Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, died Thursday morning at the home. She was born in Axeman, Pa., daughter of Charles and Ruth (Snook) Hughes.
She married Owen D. Wilt in 1928 and bore two sons: Philip and William. William died at age 5. Surviving are a son, Philip Wilt and wife, Rosa, of Altoona; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, William; and husband, Joseph Baronner.
Dorothy was a very devoted and affectionate mother and gravely was affected by the death of her young son. Dorothy divorced Owen in October 1951. She married Joseph Baronner July 14, 1952, in Winchester, Va. Joseph, a veteran of the Army Corps of Engineers, passed away July 3, 1998.
Although Dorothy didn't attend church, she accepted Christ as her Savior and supported Christian programs until her death. Dorothy and her husband, Joseph, enjoyed traveling and participating in flea markets. They were a devoted couple and always were together until separated because of poor health. Dorothy always looked after her extended family. She provided comfort and financial support when needed. She was blessed to have many loving relatives and friends to share her life.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today, May 11, at Vincent J. Good Funeral Parlor, 328 Fifth Ave.,Altoona. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at the funeral parlor by Pastor Frank Miller. Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.
