Howard Thomas Hood Sr. 4/8/21 ~ 3/24/04 (Brownie) Our humble, gentle father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on March 24, 2004. Howard was born April 8, 1921 in Forty-Three, Arkansas. He was the third of eight children born of Thomas Jasper Hood and Jenny Jewel Samples Hood. He served two tours in Colorado at the Civilian Conservation Corps. He also was proud to serve his country in the army during World War II. He served in England, France, Germany, Normandy, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He participated in D-Day at Utah Beach. He received the Silver Star, Good Conduct Ribbon and the European-African-Middle East Ribbon. He and two brothers, Raymond and George, served in World War II at the same time and his younger brother Bill served in the Korean War. He worked as an electrician at the U.S. Steel Plant in Pittsburgh, CA for about 43 years. He was instrumental in many new innovations at the plant. He also worked a 20 acre almond ranch in Brentwood, CA. He was a hard worker. He married Ethel Imogene Hibbard. They were later divorced. They were blessed with three children: Juanita Carol Blackhurst, Brenda Peters and Howard Thomas Hood Jr. He raised his family in West Pittsburgh, CA. All three children are located here and Brownie moved here in 1997 to be near his family. He has 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his three children; three brothers: Raymond, George and Bill Hood; and two sisters, Evelyn Hood Hawks and Mary Hood Haggard. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Doshalea Hood Hart and Margaret Hood Davis. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 29, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 S. 300 E. Pleasant Grove, UT. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment in the Lindon City Cemetery, 200 E. 600 N. Lindon, UT, where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 72.
