"Sudden Death of Mrs. Barbara Oehme. Mr. (Mrs.) Barbara Oehme, wide (widow) of the late William Oehme, met with a sudden death last Saturday morning, which caused quite a shock to the community. She had her home with her daughter Mrs. Reuben Diehm, but took her meals with her son Birney Oehme, who resides near by. About 7 o'clock she started from her daughter's to her son's home for breakfast, the two places being only a short distance apart. She had reached the middle of the street when it is supposed she was suddenly overcome by an epileptic fit, to which she was subject for many years, and falling to the ground on her face, suffocated in this maner. She was first discovered by William Sesseman, who called for assistance, when she was carried to the home of her son. On being raised from the ground she gasped for breath several times and then life was entirely gone. Mrs. Oehme was born in New Danville, this county. Her maiden name was Conrad. In early life she took up her residence in this section, first living at Lexington and then in Lititz, where she resided many years and became a consistent member of the Moravian faith. About a year and a half ago her husband was buried. The surviving children are as follows: Daniel U., of Blue Ball; Mrs. Reuben Diehm, Mrs. Juiluis Sturgis, Mrs. Albert Gochenaur, Henry and Birney, all residing here. The age of the deceased was 67 years. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Moravian church and interment in the Moravian graveyard."
