James Merle Banton, 71, of Memphis, accountant for City of Memphis and Memphis Housing Authority, died Nov. 27 at Saint Francis Hospital. Services were held Nov. 30 at Memorial Park Funeral Home with entombment at Memorial Park Mausoleum. He was a member of Kirby Woods Baptist Church. He leaves a son, James Banton of Antioch, Tenn; two sisters: Jane Smith of Brighton and Louise Alley of Oakland, Tenn; two brothers: Gene Banton of Memphis and Ernest Banton of Little Rock, Ark. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Trans-World Bible Society.
