Harold E. Trego, 77, of Lionville, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2009, at Neighborhood Hospice of West Chester.
He was the beloved husband of Shirley Lessig Trego, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.
Born in Upper Uwchlan, he was the son of the late Absolom and Mabel Garvine Trego.
He graduated from West Chester High School and was the owner of Harold E. Trego Construction Co., Inc. and Harold E. Trego, Inc. Trucking in Lionville for 60 years.
A life member of the Chester County Firefighters Association, Mr. Trego was also a life member of the Lionville Fire Company, where he served as fire chief for 15 years, and also as president and treasurer.
He was a 50-year member of the Shriners; a member of the Patriotic Order Sons of America; and was a 32nd Degree Mason with Mt. Pickering Lodge No. 446 also for 50 years, as well as being a Scottish Rite member. Other activities that he enjoyed were bowling, boating and dart ball.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Trego is survived by his children, Harold A. and his wife, Candy of Downingtown, William C. of Lionville, LuAnn Trego Wynn and husband, Gary of West Chester, and Frank L. of Glenmoore. He is also survived by grandchildren, Michael Wynn, Betsy and Harold Ross Trego, and Meghan Trego; and by his brother, Walter Trego and wife, Nancy of Maryland.
He was predeceased by his brother, Jack.
A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, where family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 20, and from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Lionville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Lionville Fire Company, P.O. Box 478, Lionville, PA 19353; or to Neighborhood Hospice of West Chester, 400 E. Marshall St., West Chester, PA 19380.
