E. B. Banks Dies While Driving Car
KIRKLAND - Edward B. Banks, 70, retired Kirkland carpenter, collapsed and died Monday afternoon while driving his car on the Kirkland-Malta blacktop road, about 1½ miles south of here.
The car went out of control after he collapsed, clipped off a roadside mailbox, and traveled down a ditch until it struck a culvert and stopped.
DeKalb County Coroner Paul Van Natta said Banks apparently suffered a heart attack.
Mr. Banks was born in Flora Township, Boone County, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Banks, and lived most of his life in the Kirkland area. He married the former Minnie Larson.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Cherry Valley Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his widow; and three brothers, Alfred, Belvidere, Ray, Rockford, and Herman, in California.
