Silas Brooks was born about 1794 in Virginia and married 1st Judith Hix in 4 November 1815 and together the couple had at least the following children; Daniel Brooks (1817-) and Silas Brooks (1842-1892). Judith died sometime before 1824. Silas went on to marry his second wife, Arpathia or Patience Loving. The couple was married about 1824 in Augusta County, Virginia. Together, Silas and his second wife, had at least the following children; John William (1825-1899), James F (1829-), Elizabeth "Betsy" (1832-), Richard Gand (1834-1884) and Hesterline (1839-1909).
Silas Brooks was a shoemaker and died in 1 April 1865 at Hickory Hill, Augusta County, Virginia and is buried in Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery, Waynesboro, Augusta County, Virginia.
Note: His gravestone says He was born 1794 however, he died at age 82 in 1865 making his birthdate 1783 and not 1794. Further, the stone states he died in 1873, however when the records were examined at the August County courthouse, they state he died 1 April 1865 (see photo attachment). Since the stone was erected after his death it's clearly just a mistake, it was the best anyone knew at the time.
